What is a Sound Bath?
Despite the name, there's no water involved!
A sound bath is a deeply relaxing experience where you lie comfortably while listening to the soothing sounds and gentle vibrations created by instruments such as crystal singing bowls, Tibetan bowls, chimes and other therapeutic instruments.
Rather than focusing on movement, you'll simply relax, breathe naturally and allow the sounds to wash over you. Many people describe the experience as calming, meditative and restorative.
Everyone experiences a sound bath differently. You may feel deeply relaxed, notice your mind becoming quieter, or simply enjoy taking uninterrupted time to rest.
What are the benefits?
While everyone's experience is unique, participants often report feeling:
-
Relaxed and less stressed
-
More mentally refreshed
-
Calmer and more balanced
-
Better able to switch off from everyday life
-
More rested following the session
Taking time to slow down and relax can support overall wellbeing and help create a greater sense of calm and mindfulness.
Please note: Sound baths are designed to support relaxation and wellbeing. They are not intended to diagnose, treat or cure any medical condition.
What happens during the session?
When you arrive you'll be welcomed by your instructor and given time to settle into the space.
The session typically includes:
-
A short introduction
-
Time to get comfortable on your mat
-
Gentle breathing or relaxation guidance
-
Around 45–60 minutes of immersive sound
-
A few quiet moments to gradually return before the session ends
There is no movement required and no previous experience is necessary.
What should I bring?
To help you stay comfortable throughout the session, we recommend bringing:
-
A yoga or exercise mat (if you have one)
-
A blanket
-
A pillow or cushion for your head
-
Additional cushions or bolsters for under your knees if preferred
-
Warm, comfortable clothing
-
A bottle of water
You will be lying down for most of the session, so dressing warmly is recommended as your body temperature may naturally cool while relaxing.
Who can attend?
Our sound bath sessions are suitable for most adults (16+), including complete beginners.
No previous experience of yoga, meditation or mindfulness is required.
Simply come with an open mind and allow yourself time to relax.
Is a Sound Bath suitable for everyone?
Sound baths are generally safe for most people; however, they may not be suitable if you:
-
Are in the first trimester of pregnancy
-
Have epilepsy or a history of sound-induced seizures
-
Have a pacemaker or implanted electronic medical device
-
Have recently undergone surgery or have an injury that may make lying comfortably difficult
-
Experience severe sensitivity to sound
If you have any medical concerns or are unsure whether a sound bath is suitable for you, please seek advice from your healthcare professional before booking.
All participants will be asked to complete a short health declaration prior to the session.
