Key Policies
Summary of Key Policies operating at the Centre
If you require further information or clarification on any of these policies or guidelines, please contact Trish Thompson, Centre Manager.
Protecting Vulnerable People – Children and Vulnerable Adults
McLaren Community Leisure Centre aim to ensure that any vulnerable people, whether children, young people or vulnerable adults, are protected and kept safe from harm while they are with Centre staff or other customers when in our premises. In order to achieve this, the Centre operates a high standard of recruitment and supervision to ensure that our staff are carefully selected, screened, trained and supervised.
Successful applicants go through the enhanced Disclosure Scotland process, the results of which are assessed prior to a final job offer being made.
The staff induction process includes training in health and safety, customer care, identifying and reporting abuse, and confidentiality.
Staff involved with recruitment, training and supervision receive appropriate training and support to ensure implementation of this policy.
All members of staff have a responsibility to protect service users from all forms of abuse and to provide a safe and secure environment.
Swimming Pool Use by Young Children
McLaren Community Leisure Centre has adopted the national policy guideline, recommended by the Chartered Institute of Sport and Recreation Management.
This policy states that all children under the age of eight (8) years, should be accompanied into the water of the swimming pool by a responsible adult over the age of 16.
The recommendation further states that the supervising adult should supervise no more than 2 children between the ages of 4 to 8, and for children under 4 years supervision should be on a 1 to 1 basis.
We understand that the implementation of this standard may inconvenience some parents or guardians. However, we see child safety to be of the highest importance.
Policy on Photographic Images
